I got into the Members Show at the Concord Art Association (www.concordart.org) this January and received a Juror's Price. Debbie Disston, from the McIninch Gallery of SUNH, said this about my painting Inuit Images/Seeing Black/Women. "Lynne has employed a tremendous use of modernism and folk-art simultaneously. In the era of advocacy for all races, this piece reflects a voice of joy for the spirit of humanity." |
Expanding on the theme of modernism blended with Inuit images, here is my latest piece: Inuit Images/Seeing Black/ 2 Sednas. Quite a change for me to use only pastel, charcoal and pencil. The influential artist this time is Norman Lewis, a black abstract expressionist artist from the 1940's thru the 1960's. The subject matter is based on a piece of sculpture Erik and I acquired in December. |
